What Individual Counseling Actually Is

Individual counseling; sometimes called one-on-one therapy or talk therapy; is a private, ongoing conversation between you and a licensed mental health counselor. Unlike group therapy, every session is built entirely around your situation, your goals, and the pace that feels right for you.

At WPA Counseling, individual therapy sessions run 50–55 minutes. You decide what you bring. Your counselor brings clinical training, evidence-based tools, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques, and the kind of focused attention that's nearly impossible to find anywhere else in daily life.

Individual counseling works for people dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship stress, major life transitions, burnout, and a hundred things that don't have a clean clinical name but are making life harder than it needs to be.
